Check your inventory regularly. Make
sure all items are there and that they are in good
condition.
Rotate your inventory at least every
two weeks. Even if you do not add new merchandise, at least
switch your displays around. Something that did not catch a
customer’s eye on an earlier visit may stand out if it is
moved to another location.
Keep your booth area neat and clean.
Avoid crowding merchandise, especially
clothing. Cramming too much into one area will discourage
customers from browsing and they may miss a bargain they
really hoped to find.
Display merchandise rather than just
setting it on a shelf or hanging it on a rack. Display
pieces as they might be seen in one’s home. If you have
items that could compliment one another, display them
together to encourage a larger sale.
If you have an item for which you do
not want a discount given during a storewide sale, mark that
item price tag as “firm”. If that appears on the tag, the
item will not be discounted at the register.
Participate in our storewide sales by
distributing flyers and passing the word along to your email
lists.
Be sure to let customers know about any
individual sales you may run that are separate from the
storewide sales.
